Four major concepts are frequently fundamental and interrelated to nursing theory. These include health, person, environment, and nursing. It is these four aspects collectively make up the nursing metaparadigm. In order to ensure that the four aspects are addressed, the advanced nursing practice needs to utilize certain theories.

Learning theories are crucial in the nursing sector because they offer explanations concerning learning and its application. This implies that understanding the learning theories and conceptual models can help advanced practice nurses in providing the quality care needed by patients (Aliakbari et al., 2015). Cognitive learning theory is perceived as the most useful concept for advanced practice nurses in providing quality care. According to Aliakbari et al. (2015), advanced practice nurses need to present the implementation of theories and precise reasoning in interactions with patients. Through cognitive learning theory, advanced practice nurses can contribute to the improvement of the care they provide because it helps change patients’ cognition.

On the other hand, the behaviorist learning theory is also crucial in the nursing sector. The theory helps establish a relationship between patients and advanced practice nurses. In the same way, the theory enables the nursing practitioner to understand the different behaviors of patients, which enables them to influence positive behaviors among patients (Butts & Rich, 2015). In other words, APNs, through this theory, can establish personalized treatment, pleasant personalities, and clean waiting rooms. In addition, the APNs use the behaviorist theory to come up with new habits and help patients with different behavioral patterns in coping skills.

Also, the caring theory is another crucial model the APNs can use to improve care. This theory emphasizes creating a working relationship that facilitates social support as well as requirements in providing care (Gray et al., 2017). The concept behind the caring theory is to utilize psychological thinking to address the realities that affect the public. In most cases, the developers of such theories ensure that the models meet the needs of people, which promotes the nursing practice. This means APNs can build on the information in the theories to carry out research and Practice, thus improving the quality of care.

To sum up, the theories and conceptual models presented above are all presented in a more understandable way which smoothens their implementation. Besides, the concepts present basic knowledge and skills relevant for APNs to provide quality care. In other words, nurses can be highly supported if they focus on implementing these theories and conceptual models.
