My Motivation and Desire to Pursue the Scholarship Essay
Women’s cardiovascular health is a vital yet under-addressed area of practice. My decision to pursue this specialization arises from both life and professional experiences that have consolidated my dream to enhance cardiac care for women. As a healthcare practitioner, I have witnessed the disparity in diagnosis, management, and prognosis for women presenting with cardiovascular illness. These inequalities, along with my academic and clinical practice experiences, have fueled my desire to promote more education, research, and patient care in women’s cardiovascular health: My Motivation and Desire to Pursue the Scholarship Essay.
Notably, my ultimate career goal is to be an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with a specialization in cardiovascular health, focusing on women’s heart health. I want to close the knowledge gap in diagnosing and treating heart disease in women, as symptoms manifest differently compared to men and are far too often misdiagnosed. Through practice, I look forward to optimizing early detection and intervention and being part of studies examining gender-specific risk factors.
I also plan to participate in community outreach in order to help provide women with education on preventive measures as well as give them the ability to take care of their own common cardiac health. This will finance additional studies and equip me with the knowledge necessary to work in this field of endeavor, either in terms of profit or loss, as the case may be.
Moreover, I have also studied and experienced the field of women’s health from an educational and clinical aspect, which has confirmed my interest in the said field. Cardiovascular practice has been a part of my nursing education in the form of coursework. I have had a chance to see how education and preventive practice improve outcomes in patients with cardiac disease during clinical rotations.
I have also volunteered to provide free clinics that perform cardiovascular screenings for women who are underserved. Further learning how these women encountered the obstacles in obtaining quality care and advocacy for these and beyond has instilled my own knowledge of the difficulties women confront in obtaining quality care and my passion for improving these burdens through clinical experience.
Professional growth has been an impetus for me to advocate and lead. I am also very actively involved in the healthcare organization for women’s health, including leadership or mentorship roles. I have also participated in advocating for legislative interventions to widen access to preventive screenings. My exposures have allowed me to hone my skills as a leader and a voice for positive change in the lives of women’s heart health.
Consequently, I participated in cardiology nursing conferences as well as various gender-specific healthcare disparities workshops to strengthen my expertise further. That has been valuable information and evidence-based practice in women’s cardiovascular health. I would be very privileged to receive this scholarship, thereby being able to further my education and further my expertise to contribute to an improvement in the healthcare outcomes of women. I am committed to improving awareness, education, and equal care in women’s heart health.
