My Educational Platform as a School Leader

My Educational Platform as a School Leader

The essence of schooling is to provide a learning opportunity to learners. Students interact with peers through the guidance of their educators to obtain skills and knowledge, which helps them to develop their full potential. Schooling exposes learners to different ideas and concepts that enable them to become productive and successful members of society. Learning institutions offer education and fundamental skills that equip individuals with knowledge on solving problems in their surroundings and making the world a better place. The educational skills acquired through schooling also give learners a sense of personal fulfillment, increasing their contribution and productivity in society.

Educators are the critical ingredient for achieving adequate and quality education for all students. Teachers influence the classroom atmosphere, which affects students’ willingness and attitude towards the learning environment. The teaching pedagogies and instructions also affect the success of the learning process (Daresh, 2004). Educators require professional skills to evaluate and understand the learning needs of each student to incorporate teaching methods that address the identified need. The learning environment is also an essential element that impacts the quality of education of the students. A friendly and interactive learning environment encourages students to interact with the learning materials and participate in the learning activities, improving their skills and knowledge. School leadership and communication skills also influence the quality of education that learners acquire.

A student is a person enrolled in the learning institution with the ambition and interest to develop their skills and knowledge in a particular subject or profession. A student must accomplish their obligations to achieve academic excellence. Students should uphold honesty and integrity in their academics for a smooth learning process. Students are also expected to arrive at school on time and manage their time effectively to accomplish their school and outside-school responsibilities. Further, the students should complete assignments with excellence and on time to avoid losing points in their grades. Additionally, students have personal responsibility for their behavior and conduct.

A teacher is a professional who has and ignites students’ interests and encourages them to explore and discover knowledge for their achievement and fulfillment. A teacher acts as a role model to the students, mentoring them to be substantial figures in society. Teachers provide students with unique and effective learning experiences to improve their skills and knowledge of the learning concepts. Teachers also nurture and inspire students by supporting their creativity and willingness to learn. Further, teachers help students to implement technology in their learning process, preparing them for the outside world.

Family and community members’ involvement in education has a significant impact on the students’ academic excellence. When the school collaborates with the parents and the entire community, the students develop a sense of belonging and ownership of the learning environment. Educators cannot achieve excellence for their learners if the institution operates in isolation from the families and community members. Families and community members participate in critical decision-making, which promotes positive student behavior, leading to better achievement. Effective relationships better the school and the private businesses promote resource and material allocation, which support a smooth learning process for the students.

In my view, a curriculum is a guiding tool for educators that informs them of the expected skills to develop among the students to attain desired academic experiences at a particular educational level. A curriculum provides instructions on how specific content is implemented and strategies for assessing students’ knowledge and competency in a particular area. A curriculum should be inclusive to accommodate and address the learning needs of all students (Daresh, 2004). The curriculum should also provide clear instructions and strategies that the educators require when integrating the learning content. Instructional education leaders coordinate with educators in identifying the best practices and setting effective goals to achieve academic success. Curricular leaders, on the other hand, focus on implementing the curriculum.

I visualize an inclusive and supportive learning environment for my students. My dream to provide equity and quality education to all students regardless of their social status or their special learning needs inspires my school management desires. I believe all individuals have equal rights to education. Education is the key to success in all endeavors. I also anticipate being a change-maker in society, and through education, massive change will be achieved. I am a friendly, social, and ambitious person, which makes me believe in my success in coordinating and managing all stakeholders in the school to achieve academic excellence.

The ultimate goal for the school is to produce competent personnel in the job market by reflecting on and implementing the skills and knowledge acquired. As a leader, I will encourage educators to have specific goals that students should achieve in any learning activity. The educators will use summative assessment methods to gauge the knowledge acquired (Daresh, 2004). I will also advocate for peer instruction strategies, where students can demonstrate what they learned to assess their understanding. Since the institution forces developing holistic individuals, I will also assess students’ learning by monitoring their behavior.

As the principal, I would like to be a role model to all stakeholders, including students, staff, educators, parents, and community members. I desire that the staff can emulate my traits and transform them into students to become proficient leaders and responsible individuals in their future obligations and duties. Also, I wish to demonstrate my capacity, proficiency, and willingness to work toward students’ success through commitment and involvement in critical decision-making that affects the students. As a person, I want the stakeholders to see me as a friendly and approachable leader with whom they can freely interact and seek any support for the academic success of the learners.

Honesty and transparency are my fundamental, non-negotiable values. Students who fail to uphold honesty and academic integrity will change my perspective of my ideal school. Examination malpractices will hinder my evaluation and accounting for the skills acquired, hampering goal achievement. Lack of transparency from any stakeholder will impair effective learning of the institution’s affairs, resulting in poor management and student performance. Honesty and transparency will promote effective planning and execution of the institution’s objective, leading to students’ excellence.

My Educational Platform as a School Leader

Assignment Details: “My Educational Platform”

Developing an educational platform based on your personal and professional values is a critical first step toward achieving success as an educational administrator. In this assignment, you will first answer several important education-related questions to guide you in the development of a personal educational platform. When taken seriously and treated as living documents, educational platforms support educational administrators in making decisions anchored to their deepest values. They may provide the foundation for long-term professional development, illuminate the most desirable career paths, serve as guideposts in everyday decision- and sensemaking, and heavily influence the development, advocacy, and enactment of an educational mission and vision.

Using It Begins with Values (Daresh, 2004), answer the questions starting on page 16 and develop your educational platform. This assignment should be between 500 and 1,000 words using a 12-point font. A simple paragraph is not sufficient to touch on the important aspects of a platform, but anything longer than three or four pages may become too burdensome for you to revisit often.

Answer the following questions (3- 4 pages) about your Educational Platform as an Elementary School Leader. (as noted in Daresh, 2004)
