Moon Journal Week 5

Moon Journal Week 5

Saturday October 12 at 8:32pm

Thoughts: On this day, the moon was visible as a thin waxing crescent. Its brightness inspired a feeling of new beginnings and hope as I reflected on my journey towards achieving my goals. I also reflected on how the moon’s phases symbolize change and growth, prompting me to consider the changes I should make to achieve my dreams.

Thoughts: On this day, the moon was bright, which provoked a sense of energy and motivation while observing it. Looking at the moon made me consider how the moon influences my productivity and mood, especially if I had a long day. This reinforces the connection between human emotions and celestial bodies.

Monday October 14th at 10:00pm

Thoughts: I could clearly see the moon this night, especially because of its contrast with the dark clouds around it. It cast a silvery light that made everything around me visible, making me appreciate its presence and reflect upon its significance to human existence, especially for people who rely on it for night light, such as sailors.

Tuesday October 15th at 6:30pm

Thoughts: On this day, the moon was also visible, surrounded by a halo effect that created a deep sense of peace. Looking at the moon made me consider the significance of the moon in seeking inner peace and meditation, especially among cultures where different types of moons are associated with human experiences and symbolize a transition from one phase of life to another.

Research Question: What are the cultural interpretations of the moon and celestial bodies, and how do these align with personal beliefs?

Hypothesis for Question: The cultural understanding of the moon significantly influences personal beliefs and practices in reflection and setting intentions. This connection would enhance a person’s emotional well-being by promoting a sense of community and shared experience across cultures.

PROFESSOR INSTRUCTIONS: Continue to observe and journal about the moon 3-4 times this week. At the end of these entries, please tell me your ONE final research question and write a hypothesis* for your question.  Do not research your question before your hypothesis. Make your hypothesis based on your expereince and observations.

*A hypothesis is an educated guess or expected answer to a scientific question based on prior knowledge and observation. When a scientist asks a question that they wish to test experimentally, they must come up with a hypothesis about the answer to that question.
