I want to become an educational accountant in one of the firms operating in the U.S. because I am qualified to undertake educational accounting jobs. The average hourly salary of an accountant in the U.S, according to Salary.com (2022), is $28.

To earn $400 per week, I must work a total number of hours given by $400 divided by the hourly pay rate. It will be given by;

$400/28= 14.28 hours

Rounding off to the nearest hour = 15 hours

Weekly gas expense = 20 gallons × $22.50 = $450

Essentially, both positive and negative integers are used in the calculation. Positive integers are identified with the monthly salary, while negative integers are identified with expenses. According to Yu et al. (2022), integers are complete numbers devoid of fractions. Positive integers have an additional aspect, while negative integers have a subtraction effect. When given in a number line, positive integers are on the right side of zero, while negative integers are on the negative side of zero. Integers are essential when working with budgets because they help add incomes and subtract expenditures correctly.

The salary for an accountant in the United States is an average of $28 per hour, according to the Salary.com website. Since it is my job of interest, the information was used to answer and establish findings for items 1-9. In the first item, an accountant’s hourly rate was $28. On the second item, an equation expressing the money I will likely make if I work for h hours is established as I (income) = h × $28. In the third item, the potential income I am likely to earn is considered a positive integer because it increases money in my bank balance. The fourth item considers how much work I would be required to earn $400 weekly. The hours required are estimated to be approximately 15.

In the fifth item, the distance I am supposed to travel a week is calculated to establish the gas expense I will incur. I will incur a gas expense of $450 per week from the calculation. In the sixth item, the gas expense is considered a negative integer because it reduces my bank balance and drives it toward zero. In the seventh item, an expression that calculates my balance for a week of 40 hours is written. It is given as B= W+ (-E), whereby B represents the balance, W represents the weekly pay, and (-E) represents the gas expense. Solving the equation for my case indicates a weekly balance of $670. In the eighth item, the monthly gas expense I require is computed as $450 × 4 weeks. It is established to be $1,800. Finally, a budget of expenses I will be paying in a month is created, and a balance is shown by subtracting the expenses from the monthly payments. A monthly balance of $880 is established.

In conclusion, this exercise taught me about using integers in real life. Notably, integers help estimate and establish the possible expenditures and incomes I am likely to incur and the potential balance at the end of the month. They will become an integral part of handling finances after school because they allow me to control my finances regarding expenditures. As a result, I anticipate efficiency and effectiveness in handling my financial aspects.
