Two information technologies discussed in law enforcement are information management and information communications technology (Bell, 2010). The former consists of functions, processes, technologies, and standards that enable the creation, storage, and communication of high-quality information that can be used securely and effectively to support the strategic goals of a law enforcement agency. It plays a vital role in every policing activity. It enables the officers to mitigate costs by reducing duplication and waste. For instance, it can eliminate unwanted recordings, allow the forces to share systems and services, and ensure the effective utilization of specialist policing skills. However, its installation is a bit expensive since it requires an upgrade fee or continuous support to represent future fixed cash outflows. ICT, on the other hand, makes a person’s identification much easier. Several methods can be used by the police to trace an offender, control crime, and maintain law and order (Bell, 2010). A person’s digital signature, telephone number, bank account number, passport number, driving license number, and passport account number.
