Importance of Educational Systems
A competent educational system can prepare a nurse to care for individuals from other cultures. According to Ray (2016), despite the differences in approaches to care, physicians and nurses have similar care goals for their patients. The educational systems determine the skills and abilities to assess, plan, and implement to meet the needs of their patients. Nursing is essentially viewed as a holistic science of caring (Turkel et al., 2018). The skills to deliver such holistic care are acquired and molded during the learning period. The design of the nursing education system can be a tool for creating awareness among nursing students about the differences in other people’s cultural beliefs, societies, and ethnicity. The educational system can help nurses understand the complexities of diversity and culture based on tolerance, respect, and self-reflection (Gradellini et al., 2021). In summary, the education system creates an opportunity for cultural immersion, which can influence the ability of nurses to provide care in culturally diverse settings.
