Various factors affect income levels at individual, family, organizational, national, and international levels. These factors may range from the specialization, skills, and knowledge required, level of education, and nature of work, among other factors. Organizational and national policies on salaries and remuneration also affect income levels in a country. This implies that the knowledge field on income and factors affecting income levels can be studied from various perspectives. The current study establishes the relationship between the level of income and the number of school years completed and race as a control variable. Data used is obtained from General Social Survey (GSS) 2018 data. The study adopts a quantitative analysis approach to analyze the data and come up with the findings. The analysis method entailed performing cross-tabulation for the variables and applying the epsilon rule to determine whether the relationship guaranteed further analysis, which indicated that the variables were fit for further analysis. Findings established that the level of education has a positive relationship with the level of income in the US. The highest proportion of the respondents had completed 16 years at school. Further, the majority of individuals’ income levels were between 16000 dollars to 70000 dollars constant income. These findings correspond to several other studies that established a strong positive relationship between income and education level, as discussed in the literature review.

Factors Affecting Income Levels

Construct an abstract (one paragraph) that describes your topic and why you chose it and includes a summary of your findings based on the different analyses you performed on your variables.

Example:

Here’s an abstract from an article written by APUS associate professor in sociology, Dr. Stacey Tucker–

Increasingly, research is being done on American attitudes toward immigration, particularly illegal immigration. Such research has focused on overall U.S. attitudes, predominantly the positions of Whites and African Americans, leaving a gap in the literature on Latino attitudes. In popular discussions on immigration, especially news accounts of “solidarity” movements, there is an underlying assumption of group congruence among Latinos. Latinos, however, are a diverse population with varied opinions on political and social issues, including that of immigration. Using data from the 2010 National Survey of Latinos (https://www.pewresearch.org/hispanic/dataset/2010-national-survey-of-latinos/), this study explores the attitudes of Latinos in the U.S. toward illegal immigration by examining the effects of discrimination on the development of these attitudes. The outcomes of ordered logit (ordinal regression) show that having experienced discrimination increases favorability toward illegal immigration. This suggests that attitudes toward illegal immigration go beyond ethnic solidarity to include perceived shared experiences.
