  1. Friendship Bracelets
Activity Title: Friendship Bracelets
Objectives (Mississippi Early Learning Standards): By the end of the activity, the students should:

a.      Demonstrate fine motor skills.

b.     Engage in cooperative play.

Materials Needed:

a.      Colorful beads

b.     String or yarn

c.      Scissors

Prep Work:

Pre-cut strings to appropriate lengths for children.

Set up a workspace with materials that are easily accessible.

Instructions:

a.      I will discuss friendship and how we can show it by making bracelets.

b.     Then, I will show the students how to thread beads onto the string.

c.      I will then let the students practice how to make friendship bracelets.

d.     Students will make friendship bracelets to give to a classmate.

 

  1. Drawing with Friends
Activity Title: Drawing with Friends
Objectives (Mississippi Early Learning Standards):

The activity will help the children to express ideas through drawing and participate in group discussions.

Materials Needed:

a.      Large sheets of paper

b.     Crayons and markers

Prep Work:

Prepare drawing stations with enough materials.

Instructions:

a.      I will start the activity by talking about how the Rainbow Fish shared his scales.

b.     Then, I will ask the students to draw pictures of themselves with their friends.

c.      Once finished, students will share their drawings with the class, telling who their friends are and why they decided to draw them.

Activity Title: Rainbow Fish Collage
Objectives (Mississippi Early Learning Standards):

The activity will help the children engage in creative activities and learn the importance of sharing.

Materials Needed:

a.      Colored tissue paper

b.     Glue

c.      Scissors

d.     Large poster board

Prep Work:

Cut tissue paper into small squares.

Instructions:

a.      I will discuss the significance of working together and sharing with the students.

b.     I will then have students make a big collage of a rainbow fish using tissue paper.

c.      The students will then discuss how they share and work together as they glue the tissue onto the poster board.

Activity Title: Friendship Circle
Objectives (Mississippi Early Learning Standards)

The activity will:

a.      Help students show empathy and respect for others.

b.     Help them learn how to follow group rules during activities.

Materials Needed:

a.      Soft ball or plush toy

Prep Work:

Clear a space in the classroom for the circle.

Instructions:

a.      I will gather the students in a circle and explain the rules of the game.

b.     I will start by tossing the ball to a student and asking them to share something nice about their friend.

c.      The students will take turns sharing by passing the ball around the circle.

Objectives (Mississippi Early Learning Standards):

The activity will help TS listen to and understand stories read aloud and engage in conversations about stories.

Materials Needed:

a.      The book The Rainbow Fish

b.     Comfortable seating area

Prep Work:

Create a cozy reading space for storytime.

Instructions:

a.      I will invite the students to gather around and sit in the reading space for storytime.

b.     After they settle, I will read The Rainbow Fish aloud to the class.

c.      I will pause frequently to ask questions about the story and encourage students to share their thoughts.

d.     After reading, I will lead a discussion about the lessons learned about friendship and sharing.
