Enhancing Followership- A Comprehensive Tool for Leadership and Development

The purpose of the 4D Followership assessment report by Rodger Adair is one that is very useful in determining where one is at with regard to being a follower while at the same time allowing employers to identify the areas of weakness of their followers and work at improving the same. The professor at Apollo Corporate University asserts that corporations spend hours training leaders but not so with followers. The report by Adair helps employees and their supervisors to develop strategies that help in aligning the tasks and duties to the employees’ Followership Zone(s) to which they are attracted naturally while at the same time identifying the greatest stress areas within the workplace. The report looks at three human behaviour measures, namely, the reaction of an employee to common stress, adaptable tendencies that an employee has in the workplace, and the natural tendencies of an employee within the workplace. An employee fills out a followership alignment worksheet which is used in determining which Followership Zone one falls in. Once this is done, the supervisor uses different strategies, as discussed in the report, to re-align a person’s tendencies to lean toward being a Disciple. An employee writes down goals they need to achieve in their quest to find more fulfilment and worth within an organization. The report by Adair can also be used on a personal level to help one develop a better and clearer vision in life and highlight the areas that one needs to change. The link to the Adair report is included below.
