Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Analysis

Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Analysis

Development Priority Areas and Action Plan

Social skills and emotional management were flagged in my second emotional intelligence (EI) questionnaire as areas that I need to work on. They were the same areas in my first questionnaire, and this calls for the capability to stay focused and develop. Emotional management involves staying calm under tense situations and controlling emotional reactions, as noted by Córdova et al. (2023): Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Analysis.

In order to enhance this skill, I will practice mindfulness by meditating and controlled breathing every day. This will enable me to remain calm and composed, particularly in difficult clinical circumstances. Furthermore, workshop attendance on effective communication will enhance my interpersonal skills, leading to effective teamwork and patient interaction.

Changes between 1st and 2nd EI Questionnaires

Notably, upon comparing my first and second EI questionnaires, I noticed slight changes in both areas of strength and areas of improvement. Self-awareness and motivating oneself consistently topped both tests. Management of emotions, however, was consistently an area of improvement, which shows that emotional control is a difficult skill to master and requires continuous practice.

Whilst I have attempted to include strategies for developing my emotional control, for example, reflective diaries and mindfulness, progress has been slow. External demands, such as academic pressures, may have restricted my attention to emotional intelligence. More time and effort will be allocated to these skills in the future.

Benefits of Strong Emotional Intelligence in RN Career

Besides, possessing a high EI is crucial in my new profession as a registered nurse (RN). Empathy enables me to recognize the emotional state of patients, which enhances communication and patient care. It is vital in the provision of a caring environment where patients are listened to and respected, as indicated by Galanis et al. (2024).

Furthermore, the ability to control emotions will enable me to be calm even in moments of extreme pressure, which will result in sound decision-making. Additionally, having effective social skills will allow me to interact well with coworkers, creating an inclusive and team-building workplace. In nursing, where collaboration is most important, EI will facilitate efficient patient outcomes and professional development.
