Disseminating Findings from Action Research

Disseminating Findings from Action Research

Dissemination is a term used with reference to the planned process that involves the appropriate target audiences as well as the settings that encompass the research findings that ought to be received. In addition, where appropriate, communication and interactions should be done with service audiences and policymakers to facilitate the uptake of research in practice and decision-making practices. In retrospect, the dissemination of research findings incorporates careful planning, thought, target audience consideration, and communication with those audiences (National Institute for Health and Care Research, 2019). However, it is important to note that not all individuals will not understand the research results quickly, and hence it is important to point it out to them and encourage them in the process.

Based on the rule of thumb, successfully disseminating research findings requires the researcher to determine who the audience is, where they are, and how they can be reached. Notably, when determining who the audience is, considerations should be made with respect to those who are highly likely to take an interest in the research being conducted. Therefore, when disseminating research aimed at reaching as many people as possible in a community, creating training toolkits, materials, and curricula for the community can be used (Henriksen & Mishra, 2019). However, more than one method can be used to ensure that the information passed is accurate and easy to understand. One such method includes presenting program results to various community groups as well as other local stakeholders. Through this, the researcher is able to acquire feedback and assess if the message being communicated has been understood by a majority of the individuals in the community.
