Elements the Report
- Cover
The report does not have images or pictures to draw a reader’s attention. Considering that the report targets stakeholders, there is no need to include such to attract stakeholders’ attention. Apart from an imposing ‘Samsung’ label, which is part of the title, there are no pictures or logos to attract readers.
- Title Fly
The report does not contain a fly. However, it is worth noting that a title fly is mostly optional.
- Title Page
The first page of the Samsung report is the title page. It contains the report’s title, which provides insight into its contents. Details on the cover page offer a reader an introduction to the report’s content.
- Table of Contents
The second page of the Samsung annual report contains the table of contents. The table of contents contains all sections of the report that give a reader an easy-to-read experience.
- Abstract
The report does not contain an abstract. An abstract is designed to give an insight into data collection methods, topic areas, and results. However, being a straightforward financial report, the Samsung report does not require an abstract.
- Introduction
The report contains an introduction, giving an insight into the contents therein. From the outset, the report introduces the auditor, Samjong KPMG, and the period it was carried out.
- Body
The report has a structured body, giving an insight into key elements. It includes headings and sub-headings with varying font sizes to facilitate easy reading (Mclean, 2015). Besides, crucial financial data is well-tabulated to facilitate an easy reading experience.
- Conclusion
The report lacks a conclusion. However, summaries in sections of the report highlight what is covered in different sections.
- References
There is no reference list in this report. Much of the content is company information; hence, there is no need to refer to external sources.
- Appendix
The report has an appendix section. The appendix contains a summary of the consolidated subsidiaries and their portfolio. This information could have taken more space were it to be included in the main body.
