Controlling Project Scope, Schedule, and Costs

Controlling Project Scope, Schedule, and Costs

A project’s schedule can be monitored using a Gantt chart. The chart outlines all activities in the project and the timelines required to complete them. The project team can use a Gantt chart to ensure that every activity in the project is completed within the assigned timeline. Secondly, project scope can be controlled using the Earned Value Method. This method includes calculating the variance in the project schedule, which is the fiscal value representing how far behind or ahead the project is based on the pre-determined schedule, and cost variance, which is the fiscal value representing the extent to which the project has exceeded or fallen behind the budget. Further, project costs can be monitored using the cost performance index, which indicates the ratio of the pre-determined project cost versus how much it has cost. According to Mubarak (2019), project managers must select status points, after which the project team should provide a status update. The methods differ based on the size of the project and the availability of resources needed to complete the project. For instance, project teams handling a mega project may require a more sophisticated method to control the project schedule, such as the Critical Path Method. Do you need help with your assignment ?
