Collaborative Learning Community Model Data Analysis-Virtual Shopping Trip

Collaborative Learning Community Model Data Analysis-Virtual Shopping Trip

Data Collection Method

The designated research design is qualitative research. According to Lapan et al. (2011), qualitative research includes collecting and analyzing non-statistical data to understand opinions, concepts, or experiences. A qualitative research design has been selected because the study consists of getting the view of participants, and no statistical data is required to respond to the research question, which focuses on determining the best portable projector for displaying marketing presentations. The primary data collection methods of qualitative research are case studies, interviews, surveys, observation, and focus groups (Billups, 2020). The ideal data collection method in the current research on portable projectors is a survey. The survey method includes gathering information by asking questions. Accordingly, the survey will be designed as a questionnaire prompting specific responses about their preferred portable projector features and user preferences. A questionnaire is a suitable data collection method in this case because it will allow the employees to offer their opinions on the portable projectors anonymously. It will also facilitate gathering relevant data because the questions will be designed based on the information the organization wants to acquire about the portable projectors. A questionnaire will also help collect data quickly, hence speeding up the implementation of the recommended innovation.

Data Collection Instrument and a Corresponding Description

Questionnaire

  1. Do you have experience in using projectors?
  1. How can you rate your competence in using projectors?
  1. What feature is the most important to you on a portable projector?
  1. What is your preferred color specification for a portable projector?
  1. Which portable projector size would you prefer?
  1. Do you own a smartphone?
  1. Does your camera have a high-resolution camera?
  1. Can your phone camera be aligned with a projector?

Corresponding Description

The questionnaire focused on evaluating the employee’s competencies in using projectors. The essential features employees consider when selecting a projector are preferred color specifications, preferred projector size, access to smartphones that can be connected to the projector, and the features of the phone to determine whether the phones can be connected to the projector during presentations. All ten employees who will be using the projectors were asked to respond to the questionnaires. The questionnaire was also aired online to get more responses and compare them with the employees’ responses, thereby enhancing the validity and reliability of the research.

Data Analysis Preparation Process

I will begin the data analysis by coding the data from the questionnaire. Then, I will assign alpha codes to the responses and group the data based on similarities in responses. The second step will be reviewing the data for consistency and eliminating illogical or inconsistent information. Next, I will select the most appropriate data based on the data that responds to the research questions. Lastly, I will choose the data that will be analyzed to determine the most preferred portable projector and the features that employees want to make their user experience good.

Data Analysis Method

The data from the questionnaire will be analyzed through content analysis. According to Drisko & Maschi (2015), content analysis is used to determine the presence of specific concepts, themes, or words with detailed qualitative data. Content analysis has been selected to enable me to analyze and quantify the meanings, company, and relationships of particular concepts, themes, and words. I will also focus on conceptual analysis, which quantifies the presence of specific arguments. For instance, I will look for the recurrence of preferred features and the competence in using projectors. Also, I will follow the steps suggested by Mayring (2021) to enhance the effectiveness of my conceptual content analysis effectiveness.

The first step is deciding the extent of analysis based on phrases, themes, and words. The second step is determining the number of concepts to be coded by developing an interactive or pre-defined set of images or categories and deciding whether to allow flexibility to add categories in the coding process or stick with the pre-defined categories. The third step is deciding what to do with irrelevant data from the questionnaires. In my case, I will ignore all unrelated data and discard it to avoid complicating the data analysis process. The final step will be analyzing the results from the questionnaire by drawing generalizations and conclusions based on similarities in responses from different employees. The results will be carefully interpreted by identifying general patterns and trends.

Description of the Portable Projector to Be Purchased That Shows How the Data Collection and Analysis Processes Helped To Inform the Decision

The data gathered from the questionnaires indicated that most employees have experience in using projectors. All the ten employees stated that their competence in using projectors is above average. Eight employees noted that the most important features for them when selecting a portable projector are image quality, lamp life, and brightness. In comparison, two employees stated that they consider tabletop capacity and color as the most essential features. Additionally, all ten employees said that they prefer wide colors when selecting a color specification. Six employees indicated that they preferred mini-sized portable projectors, while four employees preferred regular-sized portable projectors. Finally, all ten employees said that they own a smartphone with a high-resolution camera that can be aligned with a projector.

Based on these responses, the ideal projector to be purchased is a Pico portable projector. According to Santos & Correia (2015), Pico projectors are small projectors that can be handheld and are often used alongside devices such as mobile phones, cameras, and tablets. The projectors have been selected because they offer a convenient way to quickly project marketing presentations onto surfaces such as notebooks and walls. Pico projectors are also ideal and suitable for employees because they can be used without a lamp as they use laser light or LED. The Pico portable projectors will be integrated into wearable computing devices, projector phones, and external devices that can be combined with employee mobile devices. Using wearable projectors and mobile phones will help employees collaborate to share marketing information because every employee can project a broad high-resolution display anywhere as long as there is a surface to project the presentation and can interact with them, thus enabling the design and development of a wide range of new interactions and applications concepts that bridge the gap between public and private displays.

Pico portable projector usage will be enhanced using projector phones predestined for collaborative interactions among employees because of the availability of broad, high-resolution displays. The view and share system in the Pico projectors will allow the employees to share their marketing presentations provided through a projector phone. Therefore, it will be possible for an employee or marketing audience with a non-projector phone to control what is being displayed by another user’s projector phone. Employee smartphones will enhance and enable opportunities for remote communication. According to Rukzio & Holleis (2012), adding a projector unit highly influences collocated teamwork. The employees can easily share information by having many people, either each person using their projector or sharing a single projector phone. For instance, employees can combine displays and exchange documents.

The main features considered when selecting a Pico portable projector will be the resolution, lamp life, and brightness. A Pico projector with the most prolonged operation hours will be chosen. We will also look for a Pico projector with powering-off procedures to prolong the bulb’s battery life. We will also look for a projector that automatically detects the type and resolution of an incoming video signal and modify it accordingly. Additionally, we will review different solutions to determine the most optimum one for marketing presentations in both indoor and outdoor settings. To settle on a portable Pico projector with the ideal brightness, we will look for a projector with two brightness settings, mainly the eco and the standard model. The eco model includes setting brightness at a lower level and combining low noise levels. For the standard model, the brightness of the images on display is affected by the amount of light in a room, hence creating a need for window blinds to regulate the amount of natural light entering the room. Therefore, the eco model can be activated in outdoor settings, and the standard model can be started in indoor environments.
