Classroom Melodies- A Songbook of 20 Educational Songs and Activities

Oh my, no more pie.

Oh my, no more pie.

The pie is too sweet, think I’ll have some meat.

Meat too red, think I’ll have some bread.

Bread too brown, I better go to town.

Town too far, I think I’ll drive the car.

Car too slow, I fell and stubbed my toe.

Toe gives me pain, I better take the train.

Train had a wreck, I almost broke my neck.

Oh my, no more pie.

Oh my, no more pie.

Number One Touch Your Tongue

Number one, touch your tongue,

Number Two, touch your shoe,

Number Three, touch your knee,

Number Four, touch the floor,

Number Five, through the hive,

Number Six, do the splits,

Number Seven, up to heaven,

Number Eight, over the gate,

Number Nine, touch your spine,

Number Ten, start again (or that’s the end).

Way Up in The Sky

Way up in the sky, the little birds fly

While down in their nest the baby birds rest

With a wing on the left, and a wing on the right

The sweet little birdies sleep all through the night.

Shhh, they’re sleeping!

The bright sun comes up, the dew falls away,

“Good morning, good morning!” the little birds say.

Here is The Sea

Here is the sea, the wavy sea,

Here is a boat and here is me.

Here are the fishes way down below,

Wiggle their tails and away they go.

When I Was a Shoemaker

When I was a shoemaker,

And a shoemaker was I,

A this away and a this away,

And a this away went I.

Right Hand Left Hand

This is my left hand, I’ll touch the sky (left hand up)

Right hand (show right palm)

Left hand (show left palm)

Roll them around (roll hands over and over)

Left hand (show palm)

Right hand (show palm)

Pound pound pound (pound fists together)

Little Bird

Once I saw a little bird go hop, hop, hop

So I cried, “Little bird, will you stop, stop, stop!”

I was going to the window to say, “How do you do?”

But he shook his little tail and away he flew.

The Raindrops Song

Hark! How the little raindrops

Pitter-patter down the pane

Pitter patter, pitter patter, pitter patter goes the rain.

(Student:)

Oh, you tiresome little raindrops,

How I wish you’d go away!

You will keep me in the schoolroom

When I might be out at play!

(Rain Drop:)

Oh, you silly little schoolboy,

Should the raindrops never come,

Where would be the pears and apples

In the garden round your home?

Refrain

Pitter patter, pitter patter, pitter patter goes the rain!

Pitter patter, pitter patter, pitter patter down the pane!

(Student:)

Oh I do not like the raindrops

For they spoil the roses red

And the strawberries, they batter

Down upon the muddy bed.

(Rain Drop:)

Oh you grumbling little school boy,

Did the raindrops cease to fall,

There would be no bonny roses

And no strawberries at all!

Refrain

Oh you pretty little raindrops, come at once and come again;

For you bring the thirsty meadows the sweet blessings of the rain.

This Sweet Baby (Lullaby)

This sweet baby

Wants to sleep,

Make his bed

In the lemon balm.

Lemon balm of silver

Tower of ivory

This sweet baby

Wants to sleep.

Sleep, baby,

I’m going to wash

Flax diapers

With orange blossom water.

Five Brown Eggs

Five brown eggs in a nest of hay…

One yellow chick popped out to play.

Four brown eggs in a nest of hay…

One yellow chick cheep-cheeped good day.

Three brown eggs in a nest of hay…

Crack went another one, hip-hooray.

Two brown eggs in a nest of hay…

One more chick pecked his shell away.

One brown egg in a nest of hay…

The last yellow chick popped out to say,

Happy Easter!

There Was a Little Turtle

There was a little turtle,

He lived in a box.

He swam in a puddle,

He climbed on the rocks.

He snapped at a mosquito,

He snapped at a flea.

He snapped at a minnow,

He snapped at me.

He caught the mosquito,

He caught the flea.

He caught the minnow,

But he didn’t catch me!

I wish I was a little bird,

Spoken

Spoken: Three little muffins in the bakery shop

Whispered: You know the kind with the honey and the nuts on the top.

Along came a boy with a penny to pay,

Bought one muffin and ran away.

Spoken: And there were two little muffins in the bakery shop,

Whispered: You know the kind with the honey and the nuts on the top.

Spoken: Along came a boy with a penny to pay,

Bought one muffin and ran away.

Spoken: Along came a boy with a penny to pay,

Bought one muffin and ran away.

Spoken: And there were no little muffins in the bakery shop,

Whispered: You know the kind with the honey and the nuts on the top.

And he said:

Shouting / Calling Voice: “What?! No muffins?!”

The wind blew high

The wind blew low

The wind blew fast

The wind blew slow

The wind blew so hard,

It blew me out of town!

Round and Round the Garden

Round and round the garden

Like a teddy bear.

One step, two steps,

Tickle you under there. (or Tickle you right there.)

Round and round the haystack

Went the little mouse.

One step, two steps

In this little house.

Professor instructions: One of the goals of this class is to help you generate a foundation of songs and musical activities that you can use in your classroom. My professor wanted me to create a songbook using Microsoft Word the songbook has to have 20 songs in it I uploaded some pictures of how the songbook should look it should have a cover like the picture I uploaded and the name of the song and lyrics to the song. Below are the 3 websites my professor provided to find songs to create a songbook.
