In implementing technological initiatives, the three challenges that criminal organizations face include the unpredictability of crime, and this does not imply that technology will ease the police officers’ work (Byrne & Marx, 2011). Secondly, there is a problem in funding technological advancements, and lastly, technological advancements have their specific guidelines and laws, which, at times, contradict the laws in existence. Further, the technologically established evidence is precluded in courts because it might infringe the laws.
The following are the skills that an Emergency Management Specialist needs to have. First is problem-solving skills, which help them make quick decisions in emergencies and find ways to resolve problems. Second is effective communication skills, which is critical since miscommunication is dangerous in emergencies. A calm disposition is another vital skill because one must maintain calmness even when under pressure and when dealing with crises. They also need flexibility skills that enable them to adapt and make decisions quickly in case a situation develops or changes. Lastly, they must be critical thinkers, a skill that will allow them to anticipate hazards and issues arising during emergencies.
