Case Study Design and Analysis

Background

Christine is a 43-year-old African American living in San Francisco, CA. She is currently living with her husband, to whom she has been married for 12 years. Christine is a physician working with a local charitable healthcare organization in San Francisco. She is a passionate doctor whose main dream has been to help the less fortunate members of society. Having grown up in a low-income family in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Christine has worked hard to achieve her dream career. Christine understands the challenges less fortunate Americans experience during their education. She recounts that during her university education at Harvard, she would barely make ends meet and even contemplated quitting. Both her parents are alive. Christine’s mother works as a shop attendant in Tulsa. Her father lives in New York City and works as a guard. She has remained in contact with her father and agrees to have a positive relationship with him. Her family history is negative for any chronic disorders. Get in touch with us at eminencepapers.com. The Case Story

During a community outreach program within the neighborhoods of San Francisco, Christine was attending to a homeless woman, a victim of domestic violence. The woman presented with bruises on her left arm and had visible cuts on her face. On interrogation, the woman reported having been domestically abused by her husband a day earlier when she had attempted to visit her children. Christine breaks into tears, prompting one of her fellows to intervene. After the woman was treated, Christine revealed that she had been experiencing a similar incident at home. She reports that her husband has been abusing her physically for some time and that she was afraid to speak out. The encounter with the woman was a trigger for her sorrows, and she could not help the woman as she had not received any help. She even confirms that she had been planning a divorce to get away from such suffering.

Analysis of the Case

The case study presents a double domestic violence scenario involving two unrelated families undergoing a similar ordeal. In the first scenario, a woman who has recently been domestically abused is seeking healthcare services to address her injuries. She gets medical attention from yet another woman who has had multiple encounters with domestic violence. Domestic violence remains a common problem in the U.S. Approximately 10 million people are affected by domestic violence every year, with one in every four women and one in every nine men being victims of domestic violence (Kofman & Garfin, 2020). The most common types of domestic violence include stalking, sexual, neglect, and physical. Anger, inferiority complex, low self-esteem, and jealousy have been implicated in several incidences of domestic violence (CDC, 2022). As evident in the case, Christine has been physically abused by her husband. Domestic violence remains a contributory factor to emotional and physical unwellness. It has been implicated in suicidal ideation and tendencies, divorce, and stress. Addressing it is, therefore, necessary.

Recommendations

Domestic violence is a contributory factor to an individual’s suffering. Addressing it remains a priority for the affected individuals. Identification of causal factors to the violence is a key intervention in domestic violence. All domestic violence cases should be reported to emergency departments and care offices. Further interventions that address domestic violence include treating physical injuries, assessing emotional impact and treating the patient for any emotional harm, determining if legal intervention is necessary and taking appropriate actions, and couple counseling to address the cause of the violence (Bridges et al., 2018). In this regard, interrogation into Christine’s case should be initiated to identify the cause of the violence. If the husband is found culpable, legal action should be taken against him. They should also be advised to visit a couple’s counselor to help them identify the cause of their differences. Divorce is a last resort when all these interventions fail.

Case Study Design and Analysis
For this assignment, you will identify the main concepts and terms learned in this week’s online lectures and textbook readings and create a fictional case study (which may not be related to actual individuals).

Case Study Design and Analysis

Case Study Design and Analysis

You will use the following guidelines while writing your case study:

Background: You need to describe the demographics of individuals involved in the case study, such as their age, gender, occupation, education, relationships, and family history.
The case story: You need to describe a scenario demonstrating individuals or a couple contemplating or going through a marriage divorce or seeking an annulment.
Analysis of the case: You need to utilize the information learned from the online lectures and text readings to analyze the case study. Be specific in your analysis using supporting evidence from outside sources when needed.
Recommendations: You need to end the case study with your recommendations or suggestions you would have implemented in such a situation to assist in changing the behavior of the individuals involved in the case study.
