Capstone Reflection-Nursing Practice
Competencies:
Design relevant, multidimensional nursing care for optimal health inclusive of client preferences, values, and beliefs.
It is essential for a nurse in practice to provide multidimensional care to patients. This is because patients have preferences, different beliefs, and values (Meyer et al., 2019). So, it is crucial that nurses also heed the needs and desires of their clients. From the lecture, I learned that multidimensional care provision involves holistic care. It will help me assess my patient socially, economically, and physically.
Select approaches to client care that incorporate care and comfort, risk reduction, health promotion, and disease management
From the instructor’s lectures, I learned the approaches used during client care. I learned the advantages of risk profiling patients, comfort and care provision, and managing diseases. This skill will help me optimize care provision, reduce the risks of patients developing complications at the hospital, and manage diagnosed diseases
Prioritize evidence-based, client-centered nursing care as a foundation for emotional, mental, spiritual, and social well-being.
Patient-centered care has been shown to positively influence patients’ mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being (Gluyas, 2015). The competency skill of evidence-based nursing allows me to get up-to-date knowledge on patient care. I will use this skill to further research on nursing care and enhance my nursing skills in the field. Evidence-based nursing care also provides further information on patient’s preferences during care. I learned that when the patient is socially, emotionally, and spiritually stable, there are positive health outcomes.
Utilize data-driven nursing care strategies inclusive of continuous quality improvement.
In the same way, nursing care strategies keep changing, so does technology. This directly advances the research on nursing care. I learned that with this competency skill, quality care is provided to the patient. I will use this information to monitor my patients correctly by keeping correct data records and maintaining data privacy. A proper track of a patient’s progress on patients is essential. Data-driven nursing care will help boost the level of confidentiality, ensuring continuous quality improvement.
Synthesize components of clinical judgment, professional nursing identity, and reflective practice for lifelong learning.
Components of clinical judgment are key in diagnosis. I learned that nurses must have critical thinking skills and analytical skills to make an accurate nursing diagnosis from this skill. Through this skill, I will develop integrity and empathy, which act as a professional identity. I will show honesty to my patients as I provide multidimensional care.
Determine effective responses to clinical problems integrating information technology, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and interprofessional collaboration.
Information technology and interprofessional collaboration contribute to effective responses to nursing diagnoses management. Through this competency skill, I have learned collaboration with other healthcare providers is important. It helps in improving the quality of care received by the patient. It also helps me develop other skills, such as communication and understanding the scope of work as a nursing practitioner. Information technology will help ensure related medical errors are reduced. In the future, it will help me to navigate through patient’s records saving on time easily. I will encourage teamwork among my colleagues for the benefit of the patients under my care.
Transferable skills
By completing my assignments, I have learned to communicate in a manner that other people will comprehend. I have gained critical thinking skills by deeply thinking about the effective responses for clinical problems in my assignment. This will help me make the most accurate nursing diagnosis during the assessment. I have become digitally fluent since I have been able to complete my assignment using the most recent journals on the net. Through my assignment completion, I have learned the positive health outcomes associated with teamwork among the healthcare team. My ability to retrieve information selectively from the net has made me gain information literacy skills. This skill will help me integrate evidence-based nursing into practice. I have gained nursing professional ethics, and I use them in my professional responsibilities, such as medical dilemmas.
