BIOL 3020 – Week 1 Discussion – Health from a Holistic Perspective

The medical condition I was given was hypertension. Hypertension is commonly known as high blood pressure. And high blood pressure is a very serious and life-threatening disease that affects a lot of people of all races and genders. This condition is very common and can be caused in a number of ways, such as being overweight or by inheriting it from a family member. “Having high blood pressure means the pressure of the blood in your blood vessels is higher than it should be” (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2019, p. 1). And this causes the heart to work harder than it should to pump blood through the body. Hire our assignment writing services in case your assignment is devastating you. I chose the following three resources to assist in my research during this course; however, there were a lot more resources out there that I found to be interesting as well. I found these resources to be appropriate because one of them is a scholarly journal written by a set of experts; another was a website from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the last one was a website from MedicineNet, which is also a peer-reviewed website.

“Academic journal articles are probably the most reliable source of current thinking in your field. To be the most reliable, they need to be peer-reviewed. This means that other academics have read them before publication and checked that they are making claims that are backed up by their evidence” (Canvas. hull, 2019, p. 1). “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC.gov is an online source for credible health information and is the official Web site of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)……………………………………………………………………………. CDC applies research and findings to improve people’s daily lives and responds to health emergencies—something that distinguishes CDC from its peer agencies” (CDC.gov, 2019, p. 1). “WebMD acquired MedicineNet in 2004. Since that time, MedicineNet has continued to operate with the original vision of fulfilling the integral role of educator, with its own peer-reviewed editorial policy and network of U.S. board-certified physicians” (MedicineNet, 2019, p. 1).
