Bachelor of Science in Health Administration
Clinical support services managers perform various roles to optimize service delivery in healthcare facilities. To accomplish this, they collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team. This paper describes the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration (BSHA) program and explains the use of resources in the local community.
The Purpose of the BSHA Program
The BSHA program aims to equip students with pertinent skills and knowledge to work in different healthcare settings. To accomplish this, the Program focuses on healthcare reforms, current healthcare trends, and issues impacting healthcare service delivery (Phoenix.edu, n.d.). Also, the BSHA program aims at equipping learners with leadership and managerial skills. By so doing, the learners can oversee and coordinate business activities in various healthcare settings. Examples of relevant knowledge and skills gained from this Program: are communication skills, leadership skills, information management, and strategic planning (Phoenix.edu, n.d.). After graduating, I would like to be a clinical support services manager (CSSM).
How this Program will Lead to a Career in Health Care
The Program equips learners with various skills to achieve a career in healthcare. In this context, I want to be a CSSM in a healthcare facility. Firstly, I will gain business management skills before graduation. This skill will enable me to coordinate and organize activities and resources in the healthcare setting in my future role. Secondly, the Program will improve my communication skills (Phoenix.edu, n.d.). This will enable me to create a rapport with other employees, formulate objectives, undertake performance evaluation and optimize workflow in the healthcare setting. Thirdly, the Program will equip me with information management skills (Stratford.edu, n.d.). By so doing, I will be able to embrace technology to improve documentation via accurate data collection and storage. Furthermore, this skill will promote interdisciplinary collaboration by effectively disseminating information among team members. Also, the Program will enable me to gain strategic planning skills (Phoenix.edu, n.d.). Strategic planning will allow me to become a futuristic leader, plan adequately, develop an elaborate mission and vision, and conduct regular evaluations.
Use of Resources to Network in the Local Health Care Community
I will use various resources to interact with members of the local healthcare community. Firstly, I will volunteer in various local healthcare facilities. This will enable me to offer insights into improving the quality of healthcare delivery by implementing beneficial healthcare projects. Secondly, I will collaborate with stakeholders from other healthcare facilities to train employees regularly on evidence-based practices to enhance their workflow and improve the quality of care. This will be accomplished via seminars and workshops. Also, employee training will be accomplished via job shadowing. Thirdly, I will conduct extensive research on local healthcare organizations to determine the performance of key benchmark metrics. Thereafter, I will collaborate with their boards to initiate strategies for improving underperforming metrics. Furthermore, I will work in concert with board members to ensure that their departments are accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), (Health Care Accreditation, Health Plan Accreditation Organization – NCQA 2022)
Leveraging Experience
I will leverage my professional and personal experience to succeed in my Program and future practice. The Program will equip me with various skills and knowledge to develop my professional experience. For instance, I will gain knowledge and skills in quality management, finance, and planning (Stratford.edu, n.d.). I will gain this knowledge and experience via coursework and by rotating to different healthcare facilities during my undergraduate Program. This experience is key to my future practice as a clinical support services manager (CSSM). Before ensiling for this Program, I worked as a health service manager. This role equipped me with pertinent communication skills, leadership skills, and background in the BHSA program. Also, I worked as a health administrator. This enabled me to be a key stakeholder in policy formulation and resource allocation. These skills and knowledge will bolster my future practice as a CSSM.
