Amazon.com Strategic Plan

Amazon.com Strategic Plan

Amazon.com intends to become the world’s most customer-oriented company. This simple yet critical purpose creates a united team that works tirelessly to achieve this goal through innovative services and products. According to the Amazon.com team, clients form a critical part of the company. Its vision is to become the best player in the e-commerce sector. Specific values guide the process of achieving Amazon’s strategic plan. These include;

The company has a variety of services that are offered through 80 different platforms that sell private brands (Flamand, Wisher, & Riley, 2020). These products and services variety allow the company to cater to the needs of their different clients adequately.

Amazon’s current success can be attributed to the strengths and opportunities that exist within its environment. First, the company’s customer orientation makes it possible to serve the clients efficiently. In the highly competitive sector, clients are price-sensitive and demanding regarding shipping. Thus, Amazon seeks to find the best suppliers to ensure clients’ needs and wants are met, which leads to customer loyalty. However, the main threat that could challenge this aspect is the counterfeit goods that exist in the same market. These derail the satisfaction of clients and compromise on quality. Besides offering products on online platforms, the company has the opportunity to create a physical presence in various locations. This approach is important in enhancing its market share by capturing those who do not shop online. In addition, the ability to compete with players such as Walmart is enhanced through physical stores (Flamand, Wisher, & Riley, 2020).

Workforce diversity is a critical element in the achievement of the company’s strategic plan. Amazon highlights its emphasis on the inclusion of its entire staff because it enhances good business. The company boasts of several gatherings that bring together individuals from different geographic regions. Latinos@Amazon and Amazon Women in Engineering are some of the groups that allow the association of different individuals. The workforce consists of people from different races, including White, Asian, Black, Hispanic, and others. Whites constitute 48 percent, Blacks 21 percent, Asians and Hispanics 13 percent, while 5 percent is made up of other races (Murninghan, 2018).

Amazon has begun to pay attention to sustainability and corporate social responsibility recently. In 2020, the company began to support local communities through the Amazon Relief Fund. The Device Donation Program donates electronics to schools near Amazon’s fulfillment centers in the United States. Through the Girls Who Code, the company is able to inspire more female students to embrace STEM careers such as coding. To empower its workforce, Amazon created Pay to Quit, which remunerates warehouse employees to the tune of USD 5000. These employees receive the pay when they deliberately quit their positions. The main intention is to encourage employees to think about their current and future positions as well as their purpose in life. The Amazon Career Program facilitates additional education for employees by paying 95 percent of the tuition fees. At least 1000 employees have benefited from this program (Dudovskiy, 2020).
